Frequently asked questions
-
How do I book a permanent makeup appointment? - You can contact Angela through the contact box on the first page, through social media messaging or via text. You can call but Angela may be working and unable to answer, it is easier for Angela to text/message between clients. You may be able to find appointments through the booking link but you won't be able to see all future availability online and due to the size of these appointments they may not be visible. If you include what you'd like to book in for, when you're looking to have it done, what location you would like to have your treatment at and what days/times you're available this would be very helpful.
Please consider that Angela does all of her own messaging, social media work and clients, alongside her own life/plans/holidays. Please be patient when waiting for a reply, sometimes it may take a little longer than others. Social media messages do have automatic replies with any important information in for your convenience.
-
Will permanent makeup suit me? - Most definitely! Angela will design and tailor your treatment 100% to you and your requirements, checking that everything discussed and designed you're 100% happy with before carrying out the treatment.
-
Does permanent makeup hurt? - Everybody's pain threshold is different. Some people find it slightly uncomfortable, most find it pain free, some even like the feeling! Angela will do her best to keep you as comfortable as possible using comfort gel throughout the appointment. Generally most people are surprised by how comfortable it is!
-
How long does permanent makeup last? - PMU can last years, however, some clients retain pigment better than others and different types/styles will last longer than others, as well as different pigment colours. Because of this it is recommended that you have maintenance appointments, usually around 12-24 months to keep your SPMU looking perfect!
-
Will my permanent makeup look dark at first? - No! All SPMU does appear darker at first, but the colour will be chosen with and for you, Angela will also create a custom mix if needed to make the perfect colour to blend with and complement your skin & undertones. The colour will usually lighten by 30-60% when healed dependant on the area & skin type.
-
What happens after my permanent makeup treatment? - The area may feel slightly tender, swollen & red. This usually subsides within the first 24 hours, however some areas/people will have longer lasting side effects. The colour will appear darker over the first few days, it will then scab over lightly and the scabs will come away on their own. At this point your PMU may even disappear! This is completely normal, don't panic! It will develop over the full healing time. You will receive aftercare to follow which will guide you throughout that time.
-
What is the difference between PMU and SPMU? - Nothing! Some class PMU as SPMU because results do fade, but usually over time some pigment will remain in the skin even after a long period of time which is why we actually prefer to class it as PMU. There are also different types of pigment that we can use, some will fade more than others, while some will hold in the skin longer, there are pros and cons to both types!
-
Do I need a consultation before permanent makeup? - Some treatments may require a consultation or patch test before your appointment. Angela will discuss your existing PMU, skin, desired result and suitability before treatment and will advise you on what is required for your individual treatment.
PMU Removal FAQs
-
Can you remove permanent makeup without laser? Yes. I offer saline and other non-laser PMU removal techniques where appropriate. Each case is assessed individually, as the most suitable approach depends on the pigment, colour, depth and condition of the existing PMU.
-
Can you remove old PMU before having it redone? Yes. Removal can be used to gradually lighten unwanted or unsuitable PMU before correction or new permanent makeup. In some cases, laser removal may be recommended first.
-
Is laser removal suitable for all permanent makeup? Not necessarily. Existing pigment, colour, skin and previous treatments all need to be assessed before deciding whether laser removal is appropriate. A consultation and patch test are required before laser treatment.
